Extended school year services are special education and related services, which are provided by the School District to an IDEA eligible child with a disability beyond the School District’s regular school year in accordance with the child’s IEP at no cost to the child’s parent(s) and meet the standards of ISBE.
Extended school year services shall be provided to each special education child whose unique needs require special education and related services in excess of the regular school year. Special education children who may require extended school year services are those whose lEPs specify an extended school year program and/or related services as determined by the child’s IEP Team in accordance with the IDEA and ISBE standards and regulations. The child’s IEP Team shall determine the type, amount, and/or duration of the services necessary as part of the child’s extended school year program on an individualized basis.
The School District shall not limit the provision of extended school year services to children with a particular category or categories of disability or unilaterally limit the type, amount, or duration of those services.
